Job summary

bioMérieux is seeking a Lab Technologist to perform diverse laboratory tasks and ensure compliance with quality systems. The role involves operating HPLCs, DNA synthesizers, LC-MS, liquid handling robots, and UV-Vis spectrometry.

Requirements include high school diploma and 1+ year of lab experience; a BS in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Biology is preferred. The position requires attention to detail, strong communication, and teamwork in a regulated environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Perform work in compliance with BioMérieux's Quality System.
  • Maintain records in compliance with GMP and SOPs.
  • Relies on instructions and established guidelines for tasks.
  • Manufacture oligonucleotides per batch records and WID’s.
  • Proficient with UV-Vis, HPLC, LC-MS, and liquid handling systems.
  • Handle hazardous chemicals per procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Job description

D Shift: (3/4 X 12) Thurs -Sat and every other Wed, from 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM

The Lab Technologist is responsible for performing a wide variety of laboratory tasks and production processes. This includes operating and troubleshooting HPLCs, DNA Synthesizers, LC\/MS, liquid handling robots, and UV\/Vis Spectrometry. Works on assignments that are routine in nature where ability to recognize deviation from accepted practice is required. Normally receives general instructions on routine work, detailed instructions on new assignments.

Primary Duties
  1. Perform all work in compliance with company policy and within the guidelines of BioMerieux's Diagnostics’ Quality System.

  2. Maintains records in compliance with regulatory requirements, current Good Manufacturing Practices, and Standard Operating Procedures.

  3. Relies on instructions and pre-established written guidelines to perform job functions.

  4. Manufactures oligonucleotides according to electronic batch records and WID’s.

  5. Proficient in the use and maintenance of laboratory instrumentation including UV\/Vis spectrophotometer, HPLC, liquid handling robots, and DNA synthesizers.

  6. Handles hazardous chemicals in accordance with approved written procedures.

  7. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education, Training, and Experience
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
  • 1+ year of laboratory experience

  • Preferred Bachelor’s Degree (BS) in Chemistry, BioChemistry, and Biology

  • Proficient in math, specifically unit conversions. Good oral\/written communication, pipetting\/liquid handling of multiple volumes. Maintain attention to detail for extended periods of time. Execute repetitive tasks and maintain high level of consistency over time.
  • Emotional intelligence by having the ability to recognize, understand, and manage one's own emotions, as well as the emotions of others.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to wear PPE correctly most of the day.
  • Ability to adjust or move objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Able to safely lift and maneuver up to 50 lbs.
  • Standing and\/or sitting 2+ hours at a time.
  • Able to perform duties while wearing a Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR).

The estimated wage range for this role based in Utah is between $20.00 - 28.00 This role is eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and individual performance per bioMerieux’s bonus program. This range may differ from ranges offered for similar positions elsewhere in the country given differences in cost of living. Actual compensation within this range is determined based on the successful candidate’s experience and will be presented in writing at the time of the offer.
