Job summary

SGS East Syracuse, NY laboratory is seeking a Lab Technician to join the team. The Lab Technician will prepare samples with accuracy and precision in accordance to SGS's analytical SOPs.

The Lab Technician works independently and as part of a team to meet daily production targets and ensure hold times and turnaround times are met. Candidates should have a high school diploma with 0–2 years in analytical chemistry labs, or an associate degree with relevant experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma with 0–2 years in analytical chemistry labs or hands-on experience.
• Associates degree in Chemistry with 1–2 years of related analytical chemistry lab experience preferred.
• Advanced English language skills required.
• Basic math and reasoning skills required.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs frequently.

Responsibilities

• Prepare samples for analysis according to SGS SOPs using department instruments and methods.
• Perform routine operation, maintenance, and calibration of prep instruments/equipment.
• Assist with validation and MDL studies as needed.
• Input and maintain technical information to support laboratory operations.
• Maintain Laboratory Notebook where applicable.
• Adhere to internal standards, policies, and procedures.
• Perform other duties as required.

Job Description

This is a full-time, permanent opportunity based at our East Syracuse, NY laboratory. We have multiple opportunities available in our Metals and XRD departments.

Our East Syracuse, NY laboratory is looking for a Lab Technician to join their team! The Lab Technician will prepare samples with accuracy and precision in accordance to SGS' analytical SOPs. The Lab Technician works independently and as part of a team to meet daily production targets and ensure hold times and turnaround times are met. The Lab Technician always follows safe laboratory practices and maintains a safe working environment.

Job Functions

• After appropriate training independently prepare samples for analysis according to SGS’ analytical SOPs using basic instrumentation specific to the department and analytical methodologies
• Performs routine operation, maintenance, calibration of prep instruments/equipment
• May assist with validation and MDL studies.
• Inputs and maintains technical information as needed to support the laboratory functions/operations.
• Maintains Laboratory Notebook where applicable.
• Adheres to internal standards, policies, and procedures.
• Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and 0-2 years of experience in Analytical Chemistry Laboratories or prior experience working with one’s hands (Required)
• Associates Degree in a Chemistry or similar scientific discipline and 1-2 years of years’ relevant experience in Analytical Chemistry Laboratories (Preferred)
• Advanced English language skills (Required)
• Basic mathematical and reasoning skills (Required)
• Basic computer skills (Required)
• Ability to lift, carry, push and/or pull upwards of 25 lbs on a frequent basis (Required)

Compensation

The expected hourly range for this position is $20 – $21 hourly. This range represents the minimum and maximum base hourly rate we reasonably expect to pay for this role. Actual compensation within the range will depend on skills, experience, and qualifications.
