Job summary

SGS is seeking a Lab Technician for the East Syracuse, NY Metals team. You will prepare samples, perform instrument calibration, and assist with MDL studies in a fast-paced laboratory.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and 0-2 years of experience in Analytical Chemistry Laboratories or hands-on work.
• Advanced English language skills required.
• Basic mathematical and reasoning skills required.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Ability to lift, carry, push and/or pull up to 25 lbs on a frequent basis.
• Associates degree in Chemistry with 1-2 years of relevant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare samples for analysis following SGS SOPs using department-specific instrumentation.
• Perform routine operation, maintenance and calibration of prep instruments/equipment.
• May assist with validation and MDL studies.
• Input and maintain technical information to support laboratory functions.
• Maintain Laboratory Notebook where applicable.
• Adhere to internal standards, policies, and procedures.
• Perform other duties as required.

This is a full-time, permanent opportunity based at our East Syracuse, NY laboratory. We have multiple opportunities available in our Metals department.

East Syracuse, NY laboratory is looking for a Lab Technician to join their Metals team! The Lab Technician will prepare samples with accuracy and precision in accordance to SGS' analytical SOPs. The Lab Technician works independently and as part of a team to meet daily production targets and ensure hold times and turnaround times are met. The Lab Technician always follows safe laboratory practices and maintains a safe working environment.

Job Functions

• After appropriate training independently prepare samples for analysis according to SGS’ analytical SOPs using basic instrumentation specific to the department and analytical methodologies
• Performs routine operation, maintenance, calibration of prep instruments/equipment
• May assist with validation and MDL studies.
• Inputs and maintains technical information as needed to support the laboratory functions/operations.
• Maintains Laboratory Notebook where applicable.
• Adheres to internal standards, policies, and procedures.
• Performs other duties as required.

• High school diploma and 0-2 years of experience in Analytical Chemistry Laboratories or prior experience working with one’s hands (Required)
• Associates Degree in a Chemistry or similar scientific discipline and 1-2 years of years’ relevant experience in Analytical Chemistry Laboratories (Preferred)
• Advanced English language skills(Required)
• Basic mathematical and reasoning skills(Required)
• Basic computer skills (Required)
• Ability to lift, carry, push and/or pull upwards of 25 lbs on a frequent basis (Required)

Compensation

The expected hourly range for this position is $20 – $21 hourly. This range represents the minimum and maximum base hourly rate we reasonably expect to pay for this role. Actual compensation within the range will depend on skills, experience, and qualifications.
