Job summary

SSAB Group is seeking a Lab Operator to support production and shipping by ensuring products meet quality requirements. The role involves operating tensile, Charpy, bend, and Brinell testing along with CNC machining equipment, while maintaining a clean and safe work area.

You will cross-train in all labs, complete training on schedule, and adhere to safety, environmental, and ethics policies as part of SSAB’s green transformation efforts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience or ability to learn CNC machining equipment.
• Ability to troubleshoot and perform preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Ability to interpret industry specifications (ASTM/EN/API/ABS/CSA).
• Good computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft 365.
• Good communication, interpersonal, collaboration, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to maintain safe work area.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate testing equipment (Tensile, Charpy, Bend & Brinell) and machining equipment (HDMI-plasma cutter & CNC machine).
• Safely operate sample preparation equipment and learn MES and lab test requirements.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area.
• Cross train in other labs to provide coverage as needed.
• Complete all training within designated timeframes and attend required meetings.
• Follow company goals, values and policies.
