YOUR DAY-TO-DAY LIFE

We are looking for a Lab Technician- Microbiology.

  • Maintain a clean laboratory by discarding waste, cleaning and sanitizing surfaces and equipment.
  • Properly store chemicals, reagents, and supplies, maintaining adequate stock.
  • Clean and decontaminate equipment, glassware, and instruments.
  • Prepare and use cleaning solutions as specified.
  • Perform quality control checks like temperature and balance verification.
  • Assist other lab personnel with testing procedures.
  • Maintain equipment and supplies, performing preventative maintenance.
  • Maintain knowledge of Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
  • Support quality and continuous improvement processes.
  • Ensure a safe working environment and participate in audits.
  • Manage inventory, including rotating supplies and discarding expired materials.
  • Complete assigned tasks under supervision and work with the team to achieve goals.
  • Perform opening and closing duties as assigned.
  • Clean glassware and return it for use.
  • Perform other related duties as needed.
YOUR SKILLS

Knowledge: Basic knowledge of microbiology to perform testing accurately and obtain reliable results. Basic computer skills for data entry. Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures. Planning skills for maintaining supplies and timely analysis.

Required education/qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Basic microbiology knowledge. Basic computer and safety knowledge. Planning and organizational skills.

Required skills: Analytical skills for testing and data interpretation. Physical dexterity for manipulating samples. Familiarity with Laboratory Information Management System is a plus.

Work Environment

The work is performed in a laboratory setting with controlled lighting and temperature. Occasional exposure to chemicals and fumes. Safety equipment such as gloves, lab coat, and glasses may be required. Daily use of autoclave and lifting of materials up to 50 pounds. Extended standing and visual acuity are necessary.

Additional Details

No prior lab experience required. Schedule: 4 days/week, 10-hour shifts. Start time varies (9 am-11 am). Pay: $19/hr. Overtime: 6-8 hours/week at time-and-a-half. No relocation assistance provided.
