Job summary

Qualifications

• 0–2 years related experience in technical areas such as metallurgical, electronic, mechanical or related technical discipline.
• Good written and verbal communication skills to interface effectively with clients, laboratory personnel, and other functions.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word and Excel.
• Must be self-motivated, detail-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced team environment.
• Ability to prioritize and execute on daily tasks.
• Ability to work and be effective with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Support sample registration, labeling, traceability, and storage.
• Perform sample preparation including: Sectioning with trim saw and automated mill; Mounting using various medias; Grinding and Polishing using Abrapol and Tegramin grinders; Surface etching with Acids.
• Use a microscope as an analysis tool for dimensional measurement and evaluation of surface features.
• Equipment set up, cleaning, troubleshooting, calibration, and operation.
• Real time documentation of test protocols and data collection.
• Author and review laboratory processes.
• Assist engineers and scientist in equipment and process qualifications.
• Participate in and or lead continuous improvement projects.
• Perform general support including preparing chemical solutions and maintaining inventory of consumable supplies.
• Perform work in adherence to procedures, department policies and regulatory requirements.
