Job summary

The University of Southern California's Maternal Child Adolescent Virology Research Laboratory at USC Pediatrics seeks a Research Laboratory Technician I to support routine and specialized experiments under supervision. This on-site role requires detail orientation, strong organization, and good communication, with experience in a BSL2 lab preferred.

You will prepare materials, handle hazardous waste, maintain equipment and records, assist with biorepository tasks, and participate in after-hours

Responsibilities

• Preparing experimental materials using laboratory protocols and safety guidelines.
• Handling and disposing of hazardous and non-hazardous materials in accordance with safety protocols.
• Setting up and operating standard and complex laboratory equipment.
• Maintaining accurate records of procedures used to conduct experiments.
• Performing experimental analysis and interpretations.
• Stocking and maintaining laboratory supplies, including monitoring inventory levels and orders.
• Maintaining laboratory environment in orderly and operable conditions.
• Performing laboratory procedures with BSL2 safety guidelines as directed by USC Safety Office.
• Maintaining biorepository systems and equipment including liquid nitrogen and ultra-low freezers.
• Participating in rotating after-hours call to cover maternal deliveries and clinical studies.
