Job Description

Reports to the Chief Engineer or Engineering Supervisor, and under limited supervision handles all routine and much of the specialized work involved in product development testing.


Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine qualification, development, verification, and troubleshooting tests:

  • Following instructions and established test procedures obtain standard measuring and recording devices to register test data.

  • Modify or add to test stand circuitry and apparatus as necessary to accommodate product unit or test equipment.

  • Assist other laboratory personnel as assigned in fabrication and installation of test stand circuitry and equipment.

  • Conduct performance, fatigue, and endurance tests on components or machines, according to submitted test requests and standard test procedures.Operate test equipment, record test data in accordance with test procedures, and document results.Obtain guidance and direction from the cognizant engineer or supervisor in cases of variation from established procedures or expected test conditions.

  • Inspect and check parts as required before and after test to ascertain wear and other changes, assembling and disassembling as necessary.Make or request minor modification of parts as directed.Use various hand and light machine tools and measuring devices.

  • Assist other technicians as assigned in conducting special testing operations, recording test results. preparing test reports, and the like.

  • Maintain test logs and records, and prepare test reports and summaries to complete test requests.Analyze and discuss test findings with cognizant product engineer or supervisor, as required.May recommend design modifications to improve performance.

  • Ensure that regular maintenance and repair of test stands and equipment is performed.Recommend facility and equipment improvements and/or updates.

  • Support production test areas or needs on a temporary basis, as required.In addition to performance of actual tests, this may include training, mentoring, troubleshooting, or other types of assistance.

  • Abide by facility safety guidelines and other plant procedures.

  • Attendance and punctuality are a critical and essential job function.

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned


Background & Skills

  • General knowledge of test equipment and laboratory test techniques applicable to Company's products for use in setting up and conducting laboratory tests.

  • Normal courtesy in personal and phone contact with other Company personnel primarily to provide or obtain information.

  • Ability to document test results in a test summary or report.




  • High school diploma or GED required

  • Equivalent to three (3) year related test experience, preferably gained within the Company; or one (1) year experience and an Associates Degree in mechanical or hydraulic technology.
