Job summary

Workwear Outfitters in Nashville, TN is seeking a Lab Technician who will test fabrics, garments, and trims to ensure quality and performance. You will prepare samples, conduct tests, analyze results, and support continuous improvement in the lab.

The role requires strong attention to detail, basic math, and the ability to manage multiple tests and deadlines. Experience with laboratory equipment, safety standards, and teamwork will help you succeed.

2nd Shift Hours: 2pm-10:30pm.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with lab equipment and machinery.
  • Basic math skills and strong computer literacy.
  • Basic to intermediate Excel skills.

Responsibilities

  • Test fabrics, garments, and trims to ensure quality and performance.
  • Prepare samples, conduct tests, and document results accurately.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the lab.
  • Perform tests on products in development (e.g., flammability, durability).
  • Communicate updates to internal teams, including issues or failures.
  • Conduct wash testing using industrial and residential equipment.
  • Participate in garment audits and performance evaluations.

What You Will Do as a Lab Technician:

The Lab Technician is responsible for testing fabrics, garments, and trims to ensure products meet quality and performance standards. This role involves preparing samples, conducting tests, analyzing results, and supporting continuous improvement efforts within the lab.

How You Will Make a Difference:
  • Perform testing on products in development (e.g., flammability, durability, dimensional stability) using various equipment and methods
  • Analyze results and document findings accurately
  • Manage multiple projects and meet deadlines, including priority requests
  • Communicate updates to internal teams, including any issues or failures
  • Conduct wash testing using industrial and residential equipment
  • Participate in garment audits and support performance evaluations
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for product issues
  • Identify opportunities to improve lab processes and efficiencies
Skills for Success:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude, including experience working with, maintaining, and troubleshooting laboratory equipment and machinery

Nice to Have:
  • Experience with textiles, garment manufacturing, or lab testing
  • Familiarity with industrial laundering or quality testing environments
Additional Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed
  • Ability to pass a color vision test
  • Comfortable working with chemicals and following safety protocols
