Job description

Our Trial Station in Londerzeel

Combines laboratory, greenhouse, and field activities in one environment, and will offer you a dynamic setting with room for initiative, development, and continuous learning.

About your job

In this role, hands‑on experimentation and scientific thinking come together, giving you real ownership over work that directly impacts research and product development.

You contribute to meaningful innovation by generating high-quality data that directly influences research direction and product development decisions.

Ownership is part of the role, as experiments, equipment, and results are managed with autonomy and a strong sense of responsibility.

Working at the intersection of theory and practice, laboratory trials (in vitro and in vivo) are set up and executed while biological material is prepared, treated, and carefully assessed.

Scientific thinking is applied in practice through inoculations with fungi or insects, combined with close monitoring and critical observation of development.

Working with living systems is central, as pathogen collections, insect cultures, and plant material are maintained in a consistent and reliable way.

Continuous improvement is driven by contributing to the optimization of methods, protocols, and ways of working within the lab.

A high‑quality lab environment is maintained by ensuring that equipment, phytotrons, and climate chambers are properly managed and calibrated.

Collaboration plays a key role through close interaction with lab technicians, trialists, and international colleagues, while also supporting greenhouse and field activities when needed.

Professional growth is achieved by building technical expertise and gaining a broader understanding of applied R&D in an international context.

What makes this role stand out is the combination of hands‑on experimentation, scientific ownership, and the opportunity to make a visible and meaningful contribution!

About you

You are curious, driven, and motivated to apply your scientific background in a role where you can quickly learn, take ownership, and make a real impact.

A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in agriculture, biology, microbiology, chemistry, or a related field provides a strong scientific foundation.

Early career experience or a strong motivation to start in a lab environment defines your current stage, supported by a willingness to learn quickly.

Working in English feels natural, while knowledge of Dutch or French is considered an additional need.

Analytical curiosity is demonstrated through a desire to understand underlying mechanisms and to ask the right questions when observing results.

High standards for quality are reflected in a structured, accurate, and consistent way of working that ensures reliable outcomes.

Hands‑on scientific work brings energy, especially when working with plants, pathogens, insects, and laboratory equipment.

Ownership comes naturally and is visible in the responsibility taken for both the process and the results.

Teamwork is essential, supported by clear communication, openness in sharing insights, and a willingness to support others.

Continuous learning is part of your mindset, shown by actively developing new skills and adapting to evolving lab and project needs.

This role is only open to candidates who hold a valid European Union work permit, as visa sponsorship is not offered and applications without valid EU work authorization cannot be considered.
