DEKRA North America, Inc. is seeking a Laboratory Technician to conduct testing and report data that determine combustibility, explosibility, reactivity, and flammability of client materials at our Princeton, NJ facility.

You will support process and production safety, assist the testing team, and contribute to client reports on material processing risks. The role emphasizes safety, precision, and adherence to standard procedures.

Qualifications

• Basic working knowledge of good laboratory practices, general lab equipment, and PPE usage.
• Lab work experience in related areas or pilot scale plant setting.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• 2-4 year degree in a technical area with 0-2 years relevant work experience or equivalent laboratory experience.

A Day in the Life and the Impact You’ll Make:

As a Laboratory Technician, you will be responsible for conducting testing and reporting information which determines the combustibility, explosibility, reactivity and flammability properties of client‑provided materials. This role directly supports process and production safety at our client’s facilities. The information generated from this testing will also provide support to our Consulting team when generating client‑specific reports to help clients better understand production risks during material processing and production of final products.

DEKRA's Princeton Process Safety Laboratory utilizes state‑of‑the‑art equipment to help clients around the world understand and manage the risks associated with industrial dusts, powders, gases, vapors, and reactive chemicals. Serving industries such as pharmaceuticals, food, chemical processing, energy, and advanced materials, the laboratory conducts a wide range of process safety tests that support safer facility design, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence. What You’ll Do:

What You’ll Bring

• Must have basic working knowledge of good laboratory practices, general lab equipment, and PPE usage
• Laboratory work experience in related areas or pilot scale plant setting

Physical Considerations:

• This is a lab‑based position with extended periods of time spent wearing PPE; required PPE is hearing protection, eye protection, and the potential for any other necessary personal protective equipment. Personal protection equipment are furnished by DEKRA. Must be able to wear a Powered Air‑Purifying Respirator (PAPR) and pass a respirator medical exam.
• Regular lifting of <30lb; Occasional lifting of <50 lbs. Ability to move and conduct work with full range of motion.
• Extended periods of computer‑based work
• Physical requirements include (up to extended periods): sitting, walking, standing, use of stairs, bending, and reaching.
• The position is in a hazardous testing facility; must be able to quickly evacuate buildings in the event of an emergency.
• May work around and/or be exposed to chemical, electrical, and mechanical hazards
• May be exposed to potential loud noise levels, chemicals, dust, allergens, irritants, controlled substances, and extreme temperatures

Compensation:

The base pay for this position is $21.00 per hour to $24.00 per hour. Actual pay is based on several factors including position‑related knowledge, skills, and experience.
