SunState Medical Specialists in Florida is seeking a Chemo/Lab Tech Medical Assistant to support chemotherapy nurses and lab staff in a busy oncology unit.

You will assist with patient check-in, vital signs, specimen labeling, injections, and documentation, while ensuring safety and compassionate care. The role requires solid communication, reliability, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Formación

• Experience in oncology preferred
• Strong communication skills—both written and verbal
• Professional and reliable

Responsabilidades

• Escort patients to chemotherapy area with chart and sign in
• Obtain vital signs and document on chart
• Report abnormal vitals to nurse
• Provide patient comfort in unit
• Assist nursing staff with patient transfers
• Assist patients to rest room as needed
• Label specimens appropriately for processing
• Check chart for authorization and order before injections
• Check for proper site, dose, and schedule of injections
• Use universal precautions when administering injections
• Dispose of sharps in bio-hazard container
• Document on flow sheets
• Maintain sign-in sheet daily
• Order injections daily using proper forms
• Document labs on proper flow sheets

Job Description:

The Chemo/Lab Tech Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting the chemotherapy nurses and lab personnel.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Escort’s patients to chemotherapy area with chart and signs patient in on sign in sheet.
• Obtains vital signs of every patient and places sheet on chart.
• Reports any abnormal vitals to nurse.
• Provides patient with comfort measures while in unit.
• Assist nursing staff with transfer of patients.
• Assist patients to rest room on an as needed basis.
• Labels specimens appropriately for processing.
• Checks chart for authorization and order before administering injection.
• Checks for proper site, dose, and schedule of injection.
• Uses universal precautions when administering injections.
• Disposes of sharps in proper Bio-Hazardous container.
• Documents on appropriate flow sheet.
• Maintains sign in sheet on a daily basis.
• Orders injections on a daily basis with use of proper form.
• Documents labs on proper flow sheet.

Qualification Requirements

• Experience in oncology preferred

Education And/Or Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent
