The salary range for this position is $34.55 - $50.09 per hour.

Position Summary
This is a full‑time, 40‑hour per week position located at Delnor Hospital in Geneva. The Lab Technical Coordinator reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and regulatory and accreditation standards.
Responsibilities
- Laboratory coordination
- Reviews and verifies the accuracy of results, QC records, and QA parameters; coordinates and monitors corrective action.
- Develops SOPs and maintains document control.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, local, TJC, CAP, AABB, multidisciplinary, and hospital regulations, policies and procedures.
- Participates in planning and maintenance of the laboratory information system (LIS).
- Ensures computer‑system changes are properly planned, documented, and approved.
- Investigates and resolves patient, technical and workflow problems.
- Maintains relationships with customers and suppliers.
- Implements and evaluates service standards.
- Facilitates multidisciplinary collaboration for patient care and interdepartmental problem solving.
- Instructs staff on new methods and instrumentation.
- Oversees the inventory system; partners with supply chain management to ensure adequate supplies.
- Coordinates maintenance and repair activities for equipment and facilities.
- Staff selection, training, competency and evaluation
- Assists manager with interviewing and selecting new hires and promotions.
- Coordinates and monitors section staffing; adjusts daily assignments to cover absences or volume changes.
- Evaluates need for overtime and temporary help.
- Supports management in reviewing and editing timecards and vacation requests.
- Ensures staff deliver consistent quality and customer service.
- Oversees orientation and training; contributes to performance evaluations.
- Maintains staff competency and training documentation.
- Technical
- Performs complex testing with documented training and competency.
- Maintains QC, QA and patient information records as required.
- Performs bench work as needed.
- Responds to customer calls professionally.
- Reports test results accurately over the telephone.
- May work rotating weekends and holidays.
- Manages contractual maintenance agreements.
- Coordinates policy and procedure development and updates.
- Participates in and presents at laboratory meetings and continuing education.
- Coordinates section technical in‑service programs.
- Coordinates handling and reporting of proficiency testing; investigates deficiencies.
- Financial Management
- Ensures accurate, timely billing for services in compliance with regulations.
- Provides input on operating and capital budgeting.
- Assists in preparing and monitoring expense/revenue budgets.
- Coordinates product evaluation under materials management.
- Initiates new program or service proposals.
- Reconciles statistics and follows revenue management standards.
- Sustains productivity standards; aligns staff variables with volume, service, and financial goals.
- Negotiates pricing/terms for supplies and maintenance agreements.
- Ensures compliance with hospital research policies for research activities.
- Coordinates major equipment purchase proposals and acquisition documents.
- Participates in facility changes and planning.
- Professional and personal development
- Creates and executes personal development objectives during annual objective setting.
- Pursues development opportunities and leadership in professional groups and continuing education.
- Communicates staff development needs to manager.
- Medical staff relations
- Works with Medical Directors to implement goals, budgets and new programs.
- Assists in resolving technical and operational issues.
- Supports clinical quality management activities.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required
- BS degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical lab science or medical technology with a minimum of two (2) years of clinical laboratory experience including professional experience in a technical specialty specific to the role.
- MLS/BB/C/CG/CT/H/HTL/I/M/MB ASCP Board of Registry certification within 1 year of hire.
Preferred
- Minimum of five (5) years of clinical laboratory experience including professional experience in a technical specialty specific to the role.
