Job summary

The Community health system is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician in Fresno, CA. This role performs waived and moderate complexity testing, maintains quality controls, and ensures accurate reporting under the Medical Director’s guidance.

You'll handle phlebotomy duties, maintain calibration and instrument maintenance records, and support clerical tasks as needed. A California-approved MLT program or equivalent training is required, with strong attention to detail and safety.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree required or High School Diploma with IEP Certificate and CA requirements.
• Completion of a California approved Medical Laboratory Technician training program required.
• California current minimum experience requirements to qualify for the MLT license; US military programs qualify; 1 year of phlebotomy or lab assistant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs laboratory procedures in the technical section as authorized by the Medical Director; prioritizes workflow based on patient status.
• Performs waived or moderately complex testing and reports results.
• Maintains quality control policies and calibration/maintenance records.
• Performs calibration, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and clerical duties including phlebotomy as assigned.

Responsibilities

Performs laboratory procedures in the technical section that is authorized by the laboratory Medical Director within the scope of their knowledge and prioritizes workflow with regard to patient's clinical status. Performs testing and reports results that are classified as Waived or Moderate complex by CLIA guidelines. Performs quality control policies and procedures in the laboratory. Performs preventative maintenance, trouble shooting and calibration procedures relative to the scope of their responsibility. Maintains documentation of quality control activities, instrument, and procedure calibrations and maintenance performed. Performs various clerical duties and Phlebotomy procedures as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

• Associate's Degree required or
• High School Diploma, General Education Development (GED) or Completion of a CMC Approved Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Certificate and completion of current California academic requirements specified by the Laboratory Field Services (LFS) in Chemical, Physical, Biological, or Clinical Laboratory Sciences required

Experience

• Completion of a California approved Medical Laboratory Technician training program required or
• Meets the California current minimum experience requirements to qualify for the Medical Laboratory Technician license (U.S. military laboratory programs qualify) required.
• 1 year of experience as a Phlebotomist or Laboratory Assistant in a clinical laboratory setting preferred
