Job summary

Memorial Health in Marysville, OH is seeking a Phlebotomist/Lab Tech Assistant for a part-time 3rd shift role. You will collect blood and urine specimens, perform HIS data entry, operate analyzers, and manage reports and communications. Training provided for students and flexible hours to cover the department.

The ideal candidate has a post-secondary program in Phlebotomy/Medical Assistance and relevant certification, with possibilities for clinical lab experiences through accredited programs.

Qualifications

• Completion of post secondary program in Phlebotomy/Medical Assistant and experience as a laboratory phlebotomist preferred, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• National Phlebotomy Society certification, National Society Clinical Pathology preferred or other assisting certification(s).

Responsibilities

• Collects blood specimens (venous, capillary) and urine specimens including drug screen collections.
• Performs patient functions in the Hospital Information System (HIS) like registers, orders, updates, prints labels.
• Centrifuging samples, placing tubes on analyzers and other lab duties/testing as deemed competent.
• Answers telephone, relays messages, communicates test results; prints reports and distributes.
• Maintains inventory; orders supplies; stocks storeroom.
• Assists with training of college and vocational students.
• Works flexible hours to staff department.

Description

We are looking for a Phlebotomist/Lab Tech Assistant to join our full service lab team!

What You'll Do:

• Collects blood specimens (e.g. venous, capillary, etc.) and urine specimens including proper drug screen collections (venipunctures on neonates are N/A in the outpatient area and on the inpatient units, may be required to rotate to the off-site laboratory.
• Performs patient functions in the Hospital Information System (HIS) (e.g., registers, orders, updates, prints labels, etc.)
• Performs various lab duties such as centrifuging sample, places tubes on analyzers (CBC) and other lab duties/testing as deemed competent to perform.
• Answers telephone, takes and relays messages; communicates test results. Prints daily and final cumulative reports; sorts reports and properly distributes.
• Maintains adequate inventory of necessary supplies; orders supplies; stocks storeroom.
• Assists with training of various college and vocational school students.
• Works flexible hours to adequately staff department.

What You'll Bring/Requirements:

• Completion of post secondary program in Phlebotomy/Medical Assistant and experience as a laboratory phlebotomist preferred, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. National Phlebotomy Society certification, National Society Clinical Pathology preferred or other assisting certification(s).

Shift: 3rd (every Friday/Saturday 8:00p-6:30a)

Hours: 32 hours per pay
