The Lab Technician is responsible for performing a wide range of testing and inspection activities on sheet metal aircraft components to ensure they meet required quality, engineering, and customer specifications. This role supports manufacturing, quality assurance, and engineering teams by preparing test samples, operating laboratory and inspection equipment, recording results, and identifying any nonconforming conditions.
The technician conducts routine and specialized tests to evaluate material properties, workmanship, dimensional accuracy, durability, and compliance with applicable aerospace standards. Responsibilities may include visual inspection, measurement verification, mechanical or physical testing, documentation review, and maintaining accurate test records. The role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to follow written procedures and technical instructions, and a commitment to safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
In addition, the Lab Technician helps maintain laboratory equipment, ensures test areas remain clean and organized, and communicates findings clearly to supervisors, engineers, or quality personnel. This position plays an important role in supporting product reliability, process control, and continuous improvement within an aerospace manufacturing environment.
Demonstrate proper and safe operation of equipment, and personal protective equipment including, but not limited to, safety glasses/full face shield, hearing protection, respirator, and rubber gloves as required.
Performs physical activities that may require considerable use of arms and legs and frequent movement of the whole body, such as climbing, lifting up to 30 pounds, balancing and handling of material.
