Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking a Lab Tech 2 in McKinney for 7on/7off shifts (3:00am–1:30pm). You will receive and process specimens, perform clerical checks and support functions, and may perform phlebotomy.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED equivalent.
• Less than 1 year of experience.

Responsibilities

• Receives and processes specimens and performs clerical checks as needed.
• Sets up specimens, materials and equipment for Medical Technologist tests.
• Operates centrifuges, timers, and lab equipment to complete duties.
• Maintains inventory of supplies and records.
• Communicates effectively with laboratory staff and external customers.
• Participates in laboratory projects and educational activities.

Job Summary

The Lab Tech 2 receives and/or processes specimens, performs clerical checks and support functions. May perform phlebotomy.

Essential Functions Of The Role

• Conducts routine laboratory procedures where the range of possible errors is limited.
• Sorts, labels and records patient specimens. Set up specimen, material and equipment in preparation for Medical Technologist to perform test.
• Operates centrifuge, simplex timers, cell washer and other Laboratory equipment in completing assigned duties.
• Maintains appropriate inventory of supplies.
• Maintains effective communication and working relationships with all laboratory personnel, other disciplines, and external customers.
• Participates in laboratory projects and educational activities.
