Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Laboratory Support Technician (LST II) at Mercy Hospital Stoddard - Poplar Bluff. You will support reports, data, and scheduling for the laboratory and ensure timely, accurate laboratory support while delivering Mercy Signature Service Standards to every interaction.

The role includes specimen collection as needed, adherence to HIPAA and lab policies, and teamwork with the provider care staff to maintain quality and safety.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 6 months phlebotomy or clinical laboratory experience.
• Must satisfactorily complete facility competencies including checklist, written examination, management observation, etc., to be eligible for advancement.

Responsibilities

• Provide laboratory support for reports, data, and scheduling functions of the laboratory.
• Acquire all required specimen types for testing using safe, accurate, effective methodologies.
• Observe HIPAA confidentiality and lab policies while performing duties.

This position is responsible for accurate, timely and effective provision of laboratory support mechanisms. The LST II will be required to exhibit excellent customer service skills in line with the Mercy Signature Service Standards with all customer interactions. The LST II is responsible for the skillful acquisition of all required types of specimens, As required, for laboratory testing utilizing safe, accurate, effective, professional methodologies while observing HIPAA confidentiality requirements and lab policies. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience: 6 months phlebotomy or clinical laboratory experience of successful completion of a clinical training program.
• Other: The LST II position must: satisfactorily complete the specific facility competencies, including but not limited to checklist, written examination, management observation, etc., to be eligible for advancement to the next higher job description.
