Job summary

SPL is seeking a Lab Supervisor to lead daily operations for field services teams in Midland, TX. You will oversee staffing, scheduling, training, and performance management while ensuring safe, accurate, and compliant workflows.

The ideal candidate has substantial analytical-lab and supervisory experience within regulated settings, plus strong problem-solving and safety focus. This full-time onsite role offers competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or related scientific discipline.
  • 3-5 years of analytical laboratory/regulated experience with advanced technical knowledge.
  • 2+ years of supervisory or team leadership experience (workflow coordination, development, performance mgmt).
  • Experience supporting quality systems, safety programs, audits, investigations, or process improvements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and applicable operational systems.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day operations and provide supervision, direction, and support to assigned team.
  • Assign and prioritize work while coordinating staffing, scheduling, workload distribution, training, and coverage.
  • Set clear performance expectations and provide ongoing coaching, feedback, development, and performance management.
  • Oversee workflows, capacity, resources, service commitments, and turnaround times to support efficient and reliable operations.
  • Ensure equipment, systems, tools, and supplies are properly operated, maintained, documented, and ready for use.
  • Troubleshoot technical, equipment, documentation, and workflow issues, escalating complex concerns as appropriate.
  • Ensure work is completed in accordance with approved procedures, quality systems, client requirements, safety standards, and applicable regulations.
  • Review data, records, and supporting documentation for accuracy, completeness, traceability, and compliance.
  • Support audits, investigations, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Partner with leadership and cross-functional teams to resolve operational and customer-service issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

We are seeking a motivated Lab Supervisor to lead daily workflow and operations for our field services teams in Midland, TX.

What You'll Do

Requirements
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or related scientific discipline
  • 3-5 years of progressively responsible analytical laboratory or comparable technical experience within a regulated environment,
  • with advanced technical knowledge applicable to the assigned function
  • 2+ years of supervisory or team leadership experience, including workflow coordination, employee development, and performance management
  • Demonstrated experience supporting quality systems, safety programs, audits, investigations, corrective actions, or process-improvement initiatives in a regulated environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and applicable operational systems
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record

Work Schedule & Travel
  • Full-time, onsite position
