Job Description

Tissue Typing Medical Laboratory Scientists perform all histocompatibility procedures including Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) molecular typing, antibody screening and identification, and flow cytometric crossmatches. They maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to all quality assurance standards throughout all phases of testing. They work in coordination with nursing coordinators, surgeons, and Buckeye Transplant coordinators.

Minimum Qualifications

• Baccalaureate degree required.
• MLS (ASCP) certification or eligible required.
• Either one of the following is preferred:
• One (1) year histocompatibility experience in an American Society for Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (ASHI) accredited laboratory.
• Clinical Histocompatibility Technologist (CHT) or Clinical Histocompatibility Specialist (CHS) certification by the American College of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (ACHI).
• Ability to multi-task and communicate effectively. Ability to think and work independently.
