Job summary

The Specimen Processor at Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital is responsible for providing technical, clerical, and operational support across multiple laboratory sections, including Chemistry, Hematology/Coagulation, Blood Bank, Microbiology, and Urinalysis.

This role ensures smooth lab operations by receiving and processing specimens, entering patient data, coordinating with providers and pathology teams, and supporting patients and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required upon hire.
• Phlebotomy or Laboratory Assistant certification preferred.
• Experience in clinical lab settings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Receives, processes and tracks specimens across multiple lab sections.
• Registers patient demographics and test orders in LIS.
• Prioritizes urgent cases and coordinates with care providers.
• Traces results and communicates with physicians and staff.
