Job summary

National Jewish Health in Denver seeks a Lab Research Technician to support our autoimmune disease research in the Dooms Lab, within Immunology and Genomic Medicine. The role involves working with rodent models and human samples to uncover how T cells contribute to disease pathogenesis.

The ideal candidate will be organized, eager to learn, and capable of performing data collection, analysis and routine laboratory tasks under supervision.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Experience with rodent handling and basic laboratory procedures preferred.
  • Knowledge of immunology and data collection is a plus.
  • Ability to work under supervision and learn lab techniques.

The Dooms Lab in the Department of Immunology and Genomic Medicine at National Jewish Health is seeking a highly motivated Lab Research Technician to support our research program in autoimmune diseases.

The candidate will perform experiments using rodent models and human patient samples. The main goal of the lab is to understand the role of T cells in the pathogenesis of Scleroderma/Systemic Sclerosis and Type 1 Diabetes. We have developed novel models for these diseases that will allow us to better understand how the balance between pathogenic and protective T cells is dysregulated in autoimmunity. The successful candidate will assist in analyzing these models, generating knowledge that will be leveraged for the development of new therapeutic strategies.

The ideal candidate has a strong interest in experimental immunology, is accurate and organized, and is driven to learn new laboratory skills and techniques. Experience with rodent handling, genotyping, patient samples, tissue culture and flow cytometry is a plus.

Position Summary:

The position performs as an entry-level technician under the direction of a Principal Investigator or Laboratory Manager, which may include assisting in collecting, tabulating and analyzing research data.

  • Performs routine laboratory tests under the direction of a Principal Investigator or Lab Manager.
  • Collects, accurately records and analyzes data in conjunction with other research staff.
  • Obtains and maintains minimum proficiency in data analysis, preparation of glassware, extraction and plating procedures, basic programming and mathematical ordering systems. May utilize computer.
  • Maintains compliance with all institutional/safety training requirements.
  • Maintains laboratory records, supplies and samples in an organized manner (such as a laboratory notebook and sample storage record).

  • Special Training, Certification and Licensure: Ademonstrated basic knowledge of laboratory procedures, laboratory equipment, and data collection /classification required.
Salary Range:

$22.76 - $30.10
