Job summary

UTHealth Houston is seeking a Research Assistant I for the Children’s Heart Institute to conduct basic and translational research under supervision. You will handle biological samples, perform experiments, collect data, and maintain accurate records, supporting investigators and ensuring compliant lab operations.

The role may involve coordinating technicians and assisting with research activities to achieve objectives.

Qualifications

• General knowledge of research fields.
• Bachelor's degree required; may substitute with equivalent years of experience beyond the minimum.
• Minimum Experience: None.

Responsibilities

• Conduct basic and translational research including animal work as per protocol.
• Handle biological samples and perform laboratory experiments.
• Collect, organize, and prepare research data; maintain notebooks and databases.
• Keep lab equipment and workspaces clean; order supplies as directed.
• Ensure compliance with training and safety requirements; participate in ongoing education.
