Job summary

Case Western Reserve University is seeking a Research Assistant 2 to plan and carry out experiments in a biology lab focused on embryonic skull development. The role involves dissections, tissue processing, histology, genotyping, and animal care in a team environment.

This is a part-time, 20-hour per week position for 2.5 years, with a starting wage of $19.41 per hour and a comprehensive benefits package. Applicants should have a Bachelor's in biology or chemistry or an approved biotechnology

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in biology or chemistry with 1–3 years of related experience or an Associate's degree in biotechnology with 2–4 years of experience.
• Advanced course in Developmental Biology preferred.
• Experience with mouse or small animal husbandry and molecular biology techniques.

Responsibilities

• Conduct experiments and manage mouse colony husbandry, time matings, tissue collection and genotyping.
• Develop improved histology and imaging techniques for craniofacial development projects.
• Collect and analyze data, prepare cryosections and perform gene expression analysis.
• Maintain lab inventory and equipment, assist with ordering and safety materials.
• Train new staff and supervise students in techniques.
