Job summary

Randstad USA seeks an experienced Quality Technician or Plastics Specialist to advance quality in PE film extrusion and converting operations. You will drive data analysis, lead root-cause investigations, mentor team members, and help sustain SQF and HACCP compliance.

The role is third shift (8 PM–8 AM) with a salary of $52,000–$56,000 per year. A Bachelor’s degree is required; 4 years of experience or a science degree is acceptable; forklift certification is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Must have 4 years of relevant experience OR a Degree/Certificate in Science.
  • Quality testing and lab testing procedures across plastic films are performed.
  • Maintains SQF and HACCP compliance and drives continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Must Have: Forklift Certification—Plus if through an OSHA-accredited trainer.
  • Product Lab Testing: run comprehensive plastic material and performance assessments including thickness, strength, impact resistance, and visual clarity.
  • Competitor Benchmarking: analyze alternative marketplace products and identify development opportunities.
  • Trials & Deviations: coordinate testing and verification protocols for new material formulations and client trials.
  • Operational Troubleshooting: collaborate with production to diagnose and resolve defects or process issues.
  • Root Cause Analysis: lead investigations and implement preventative measures.
  • Client Care Support: assist with investigation protocols for client feedback and document results.
  • Team Training: train operators and junior lab technicians on testing protocols and documentation.
  • Regulatory Compliance: maintain SQF/HACCP related standards.

  • Operational Troubleshooting:Partner with production teams to diagnose and resolve manufacturing defects or process anomalies.
  • Root Cause Analysis:Drive investigations and implement preventative measures to stop recurring issues.
  • Client Care Support:Assist with investigation protocols for client feedback and compile data for customer-facing documentation.
  • Team Training:Train and mentor floor operators and junior lab technicians on proper testing protocols, documentation standards, and quality goals.
  • Regulatory Compliance:Help maintain the facility's SQS Certification, adherence to food safety standards, specialized handling procedures, and industry certifications.
  • Nice to Have:Experience working inside a plastic manufacturing environment
  • Nice to Have:Six Sigma, 5S, orLean Manufacturing knowledge
