Job summary

Millennium Physician Group is seeking a PRN Phlebotomist to draw blood, prepare specimens, and verify patient records in Florida clinics. Prior phlebotomy or MA certification and 2+ years in a lab are required; familiarity with labeling, biosafety, and OSHA rules is essential.

You will perform venipuncture, ensure proper labeling, and assist in day-to-day lab operations while delivering quality patient service and supporting the team.

Qualifications

• Phlebotomy certification or MA cert or phlebotomy program certificate.
• 2+ years of laboratory experience.
• Knowledge of labeling/ID protocol and common lab tests.
• OSHA safety rules and universal precautions.
• Ability to interpret orders and guide new phlebotomists.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and capillary puncture for the Coumadin clinic.
• Identify patient per protocol; ensure correct patient matching.
• Prepare samples with proper labeling and barcode; inspect vials.
• Reconcile day-end sample reports and maintain traceability.
• Follow safety procedures and assist in daily operations.
• Support teammates and guide day-to-day activities in the lab.
• Clean up old orders and manage duplicates in the system.

Job description

Job Description Summary

The Phlebotomist is responsible for drawing and collecting blood from patients and preparing the samples for testing. Verifies the patient's records, enters data into the system, and prepares specimens for laboratory analysis. Processes specimens and demonstrates proper handling of samples. Instructs patients on Coumadin and performs limited waived testing. Maintains sample integrity by identification and labeling (2 identifiers). Maintains work area, supplies, and cleanliness.

Hours & Location

This position is PRN, working hours or shifts as needed!! No weekends or major holidays! Will cover locations in Charlotte county

Responsibilities

• Performs painless venipuncture and capillary puncture for the Coumadin clinic
• Identifies patient following protocol.
• Prepares samples for processing w/correct label and bar code and inspects vials
• Reconciles outstanding sample report at day’s end.
• Observe safety procedures and sample prep.
• Support and guide in day-to-day activities.
• Clean up old orders and combine orders in Copia, know which tests are duplicates and which are necessary for measures.
• Demonstrate excellent guest service to internal team members and patients.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Phlebotomy certification or M.A. certification or certificate from a phlebotomy program.
• 2+ years of experience in Lab.
• Understand labeling/ID protocol, and knowledge of common lab tests, sample types, and vacutainers.
• Understand Biohazard, OSHA safety regulations for medical offices, and Universal precautions.
• Knowledge of test requirements and how to search Quest/LabCorp for esoteric tests.
• Ability to interpret miscellaneous order
• Ability to guide and observe new phlebotomists
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
