Job summary

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of laboratory hands-on experience required.
  • Valid driver’s license necessary.
  • Great communication skills and ability to work directly with clients.

Responsibilities

  • Complete onboarding and safety training development program.
  • Conduct environmental health and safety audits for clients.
  • Train clients on proper chemical safety and hazardous waste management.
  • Prepare chemical and biological waste for shipment and manage waste documents.
  • Adhere to state and federal regulations (RCRA, DOT).
  • Develop understanding of OSHA regulations and health & safety practices.
  • Monthly on-call responsibilities as part of Emergency Response team.
  • Handle materials within client sites and disposal facilities.
  • Pack and prep hazardous waste for shipment; maintain safety standards.
  • Lead spill response measures, assessment, and cleanup.
  • Work 40+ hours per week; overtime frequently required.
  • Maintain professional attitude, energy, and client-facing communication.
  • Train clients on chemical safety and hazardous waste management.
  • Attend client operations meetings and train new team members.

Job Overview

Our client, one of the largest environmental services firms in North America, is looking for an Environmental Specialist to join their renowned team of professionals. They provide leading institutions in the higher education, life sciences, healthcare, and industrial sectors with diverse services and advice to assist them with compliance management.

Responsibilities
  • Completion of on-boarding and Safety Training Development Program
  • Safety equipment inspections
  • Hazardous waste inspections
  • Perform and document environmental health and safety (EHS) audits for clients
  • Regularly prepare chemical and biological waste for shipment and disposal, including creation and management of all federal/state waste documents
  • Follow applicable state and federal regulations (RCRA, DOT)
  • Develop understanding of OSHA regulations and health & safety practices
  • Monthly on-call responsibilities as part of the Emergency Response team
  • Material handling – transportation of materials within and between client sites and disposal facilities
  • Safe handling of hazardous waste containers and loading/unloading of waste from vehicles
  • Packaging and prepping hazardous waste for shipment
  • Spill response measures, assessment, and cleanup leadership
  • Work 40+ hours per week; overtime frequently required
  • Maintain a professional attitude, high energy, and strong communication skills while interacting with client representatives
  • Train clients on proper chemical safety and hazardous waste management
  • Attend client operations meetings
  • Train new team members
Qualifications
  • BS/BA in Environmental Science, Business, or related field (preferred); recent graduates accepted
  • 2+ years of laboratory hands‑on experience
  • Great communication skills and the ability to work directly with clients
  • Willingness to work hard and get hands dirty
  • Valid driver’s license
