Job summary

Georgia Tech in Atlanta, GA is seeking a Lab Operations Coordinator to provide operational and administrative support for laboratory facilities, including procurement, equipment maintenance, safety compliance, and space utilization.

You will serve as liaison between researchers, vendors, and institutional offices, manage budgets and purchasing records, and help plan space and upgrades aligned with institutional goals. Requires 1+ year relevant experience.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or vocational training.
  • 1+ years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree (Business Admin, Business Management, Finance, Accounting) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and optimize laboratory operations, scheduling equipment and maintenance.
  • Lead procurement, inventory management, and vendor coordination.
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance and repairs for lab infrastructure.
  • Serve as liaison between researchers, facilities, EH&S, and vendors.
  • Monitor safety, regulatory compliance, and inspection records.
  • Develop and refine procedures to improve workflows and compliance.
  • Support long-term planning for space, equipment upgrades, and initiatives.
  • Track and reconcile budgets, invoices, and purchasing records.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

The Lab Operations Coordinator provides operational and administrative support to ensure the effective functioning of laboratory facilities. This role manages procurement, equipment maintenance, safety compliance, and space utilization, while serving as a primary liaison between researchers, vendors, and institutional offices.

Responsibilities
  • Job Duty 1 - Oversee and optimize laboratory operations by managing equipment scheduling, coordinating training programs, and directing maintenance and service activities to maximize efficiency, safety, and compliance.
  • Job Duty 2 - Lead procurement, inventory management, and vendor coordination to ensure timely and cost-effective acquisition of laboratory supplies and services.
  • Job Duty 3 - Coordinate preventative maintenance, service contracts, and repair activities for lab infrastructure and specialized equipment.
  • Job Duty 4 - Serve as the primary liaison between laboratory personnel, facilities, Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S), and external vendors to resolve operational issues and support strategic initiatives.
  • Job Duty 5 - Monitor and maintain records of laboratory safety, regulatory compliance, and inspection activities, proactively identifying and addressing potential risks.
  • Job Duty 6 - Develop, implement, and refine procedures and best practices to improve operational workflows, resource allocation, and compliance adherence.
  • Job Duty 7 - Support long-term planning for laboratory space, equipment upgrades, and operational initiatives in alignment with institutional goals.
  • Job Duty 8 - Track and reconcile operational budgets, invoices, and purchasing records, providing reports and recommendations to departmental leadership.
  • Job Duty 9 - Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Educational Requirements High school diploma, GED, or vocational training
  • Required Experience 1+ years of relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree (Business Admin, Business Management, Finance, Accounting)
  • MS Office Suite
  • Experience with current GTRI/SEAL inventory processes and asset tracking, including coordination with GTRI Property Control. for asset tagging
  • Experience with relevant applications for GTRI/SEAL asset management, including some combination of Workday, PEDYN, RFTrack, and QTrak

Salary range is dependent on candidates experiences and skills that ranges from $47,366.00 - $80,049.00.
