Job summary

Veranova is seeking a Metrologist to support calibration, maintenance, and lifecycle management of analytical instrumentation in our AD and QC laboratories within a cGMP environment.

The role involves calibrations, troubleshooting HPLC/UPLC/GC, records management, vendor coordination, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Candidates should hold a chemistry degree with 3+ years in analytical instruments and experience in pharma manufacturing.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry or related scientific discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience troubleshooting HPLC, UPLC, and/or GC systems.
  • Experience in a cGMP-regulated environment.
  • Strong understanding of analytical instrumentation calibration and qualification practices.
  • Experience with a broad range of laboratory instruments (e.g., balances, KF, NMR, ICP-MS, PSD, XRPD, TGA, DSC).
  • Familiarity with LabWare LIMS (including Instrument Manager) is preferred.
  • Background in pharmaceutical/API manufacturing or specialty chemicals is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and perform instrument calibrations and preventive maintenance activities while minimizing disruption to laboratory operations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with chromatographic systems (HPLC, UPLC, GC) and other analytical instrumentation.
  • Assign and oversee instrument custodians; ensure maintenance and usage records/logbooks are accurate, complete, and inspection-ready.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers, including negotiating contracts and overseeing on-site service activities.
  • Coordinate installation, qualification, and modification of instrumentation to meet AD and QC operational needs and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with USP, cGMP, and all applicable regulatory standards related to instrument validation, calibration, and maintenance.
  • Support internal, client, and regulatory audits by providing accurate and up-to-date documentation.
  • Lead or support the evaluation, selection, procurement, and implementation of new instrumentation and associated software systems.
  • Assess and recommend upgrades to existing instrumentation, software, firmware, and hardware to improve performance and compliance.
  • Participate in deviation investigations and root cause analyses related to instrumentation performance and reliability.

Role Overview:

The Metrologist will support calibration, maintenance, and lifecycle management of analytical instrumentation within our Analytical Development (AD) and Quality Control (QC) laboratories. This role is critical to ensuring instrument reliability, regulatory compliance, and uninterrupted laboratory operations in a cGMP environment.

Core Responsibilities:

Salary Range:

The salary range for this role is $70,000-$85,000 annually. This range represents a good‑faith estimate of the compensation we expect to offer for this position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be based on factors such as relevant experience, skills, qualifications, and internal equity. In exceptional cases, compensation may exceed the stated range.

All full‑time employees are eligible to participate in our annual incentive bonus program. Bonus targets vary by career level and are based on individual and company performance.
