Job summary

Carnegie Mellon University’s Chemistry Department seeks a Lab Manager to ensure daily lab operations, PFAS analysis, and maintenance of LC-QTOF-MS systems. The role involves training new lab members and maintaining SOPs, with opportunities to contribute to experimental design and data interpretation for research projects.

The position requires a Master’s degree (Doctorate preferred) in chemistry or related fields, plus experience in analytical laboratories and mass spectrometry.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in chemistry, environmental science, environmental engineering, or related field required.
• Doctorate degree preferred.
• Minimum of one year experience as a postdoctoral scientist or laboratory manager in an analytical laboratory.
• Experience with high-resolution mass spectrometry and liquid chromatography.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining and repairing LC-QTOF-MS systems
• Running PFAS analysis on LC-QTOF-MS systems
• Completing sample preparation and analysis for biological and environmental samples
• Training new laboratory members
• Organizing general laboratory upkeep
• Other duties as assigned
