Job summary

Carrollton Regional Medical Center is seeking a Laboratory Manager to oversee routine laboratory operations and ensure timely testing with high-quality standards. You will supervise staff, assist with hiring, training, and evaluations, and drive hiring, payroll, and budgeting activities.

The role requires strong leadership, adherence to CLIA and regulatory guidelines, and the ability to implement quality assurance programs while coordinating with department leaders.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in medical laboratory management.
• Certification in ASCP/AMT/HEW/ABHI as listed or equivalent.
• Experience with CLIA regulations and laboratory compliance.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

Manages the routine activities of the laboratory or a laboratory section to ensure that staffing is adequate and that tests are performed , recorded, and reported in a timely manner and in accordance with quality standards. Assists with staff hiring, training , performance evaluations , payroll , etc.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Manages the work of assigned subordinates engaged in the pre-analytical , analytical, and/or post-analytical phases of testing. Performs all delegated functions as defined by facility CLIA Director.

Prepares schedules, coordinates job assignments , and monitors personnel. Assist s in the selection , orientation, training , assignments , evaluations , discipline , and discharge of employees.

Develops policies and procedures related to the laboratory , staffing , and scheduling.

Communicates and escalates issues or concerns to other department leaders and upper management in a timely manner .

Monitors the inventory system to ensure that necessary supplies are available as needed and in the proper quantity.

Implements quality assurance programs and maintains standards and records that document compliance with regulatory agencies.

Reviews quality control , proficiency testing, instrument maintenance , and quality assurance records , and any associated corrective action.

Prepares and monitors annual budgets.

Minimum Qualifications

MEDICAL TECHNOLOGY/ SCIENCES

4+ years

ASCP (MT/CLS/MLS/CG/CT/DLM ) , or AMT (MT/CLS/MLS) , or HEW (MT/CLS/MLS) , or AAB (MT/CLS/MLS) , or ABHI (CHT/CHS) , or ASCP Scientist/Specialist ( BB , C , H , M , MB , SBB , SC , SH , SM)

Working Conditions

Physical Requirements: Continuously stand/walk or lift/handle/carry material or equipment of moderate weight (20 to 50 lbs.). Examples: Nurses, LVNs, and physical therapists.

Environment: Located in an indoor area with frequent exposure to mild physical discomfort from dust, fumes, temperature, and noise. Examples: patient cares providers and laboratory technicians

Respiratory Category: Job tasks potentially include frequent or routine exposure to aerosolized particulate matter or infectious respiratory droplet nuclei and required fit testing and the use of respiratory protection is a condition of employment."

Hazard 1, 2, or 3: OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen Category 1: Tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, tissues, and other potentially infectious materials.
