The University of Rochester in Rochester, NY is seeking a Lab Technician to support a biology laboratory by feeding, tagging, and maintaining wasp colonies.

You will perform routine tasks such as feeding caterpillars, cleaning cages, and preparing new stock while ensuring colony health and accurate record-keeping. A BS/BA is preferred and prior insect exposure is helpful. This is a full-time role in a lab setting.

Qualifications

• BS/BA preferred; insect handling experience beneficial.
• Prior exposure to insects is preferred.
• Experience in a laboratory setting is advantageous.

Responsabilités

• Feed and clean approximately 100 wasp colonies 2–3 times per week.
• Receive feeder insects and manage daily colony care and cleaning.
• Repair and maintain cages; prepare new containers for wasps.
• Mark insects weekly and monitor colony health and activity.
• Organize and label supplies; assist with stock and ordering.
• Assist in lab as needed for day shift operations.
