Job summary

Akkodis is seeking an Engineering Lab Technician for a dedicated weekend shift in Santa Clara, CA. The role focuses on building, testing, and validating server and accelerated computing platforms, working closely with engineering teams.

The ideal candidate will assemble, rack, test, and debug hardware, perform software-agnostic lab tasks, and maintain lab reliability and documentation. This is an onsite lab position supporting product development cycles.

Qualifications

• Associate degree, technical certification, bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years in an engineering or electronics lab, hardware validation lab, or similar.
• Experience assembling, configuring, and troubleshooting server hardware.
• Familiarity with Linux command-line environments and documentation practices.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, build, and install development platforms and large-scale server systems.
• Perform rack-and-stack activities: server installation, component integration, hardware configuration.
• Install, remove, and upgrade servers, GPUs, boards, and related hardware.
• Perform assembly, disassembly, and mechanical rework.
• Execute validation and system-level testing procedures.
• Collect, document, and communicate test results.
• Support troubleshooting, debugging, and root-cause investigations.
• Connect oscilloscope probes and capture waveform data.
• Support hardware bring-up activities and engineering development.
• Maintain lab inventory, equipment, and materials.

This is a dedicated weekend shift role supporting critical engineering and product development activities.

• Friday through Monday schedule
• Four 10-hour shifts per week
• Overtime may be required based on project needs
• Availability to work company-designated holidays that fall within the scheduled shift is required
• Fully onsite position in Santa Clara, CA

Candidates must be comfortable working weekends and supporting engineering activities during holiday periods.

About the Role

We are seeking a hands-on Engineering Lab Technician to support the development, validation, and testing of advanced server and accelerated computing platforms. Working alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams, you will help assemble, integrate, test, troubleshoot, and maintain complex hardware systems used in next-generation computing environments.

This is an engineering lab role, not a production data center operations position. The ideal candidate enjoys building systems, working directly with hardware, performing rack integrations, executing validation testing, and supporting engineers throughout the product development lifecycle.

What You'll Be Doing

Required Qualifications

• Associate Degree, Technical Certification, Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience in an engineering lab, electronics lab, hardware validation lab, server lab, or similar technical environment.
• Experience assembling, configuring, and troubleshooting computer or server hardware.
• Experience with rack-mounted systems and hardware integration.
• Familiarity with Linux command-line environments.
• Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting hardware validation, board bring-up, or product development teams.
• Basic networking knowledge.
• Server maintenance and troubleshooting experience.
• Ability to perform basic solder rework.
• Experience reading schematics and supporting board-level debugging.
• Familiarity with ARM, x86, GPU, or accelerated computing environments.
• Experience using oscilloscopes and other lab instrumentation.
