Join Our Team as a Laboratory Assistant

We are seeking a Laboratory Assistant to perform venipuncture, capillary punctures, and routine lab duties on adult and pediatric patients. The role involves processing lab orders, specimen collection, and performing waived and moderate complexity procedures according to CLIA standards. Basic operation of office and lab equipment is also required.

Work Hours

M-F, 1:30 PM PST - 10:00 PM PST

Primary Responsibilities
  1. Perform phlebotomy, specimen collection, and handling; assist in patient care related to phlebotomy; label and process specimens; ensure specimen integrity through proper documentation.
  2. Conduct waived and moderate complexity testing; recognize abnormal and critical results and follow up accordingly.
  3. Use computer systems for order and results retrieval, test ordering, and to serve as a resource for specimen collection and information.
  4. Assist patients, providers, and staff by applying lab operations knowledge; communicate effectively; answer calls and provide routine lab information.
  5. Follow established lab policies and procedures; maintain work area, supplies, and safety standards; perform basic equipment maintenance.
  6. Participate in quality assurance programs and organize work duties efficiently.
  7. Instruct patients on urine collection procedures and manage specimen allocation.
  8. Dispose of contaminated materials per OSHA regulations; comply with OSHA, HIPAA, CLIA, and safety protocols; use PPE as required.
  9. Administer glucose tolerance tests, including proper glucose dosing; instruct patients on home collection procedures.
  10. Assist in training new staff; demonstrate professionalism and teamwork; participate in educational activities.
  11. Maintain confidentiality and perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of phlebotomy training
  • Current CPR/BLS certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
  • Ability to work the scheduled hours of M-F, 1:30 PM PST - 10:00 PM PST
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least 1 year of phlebotomy experience
Compensation and Benefits

The hourly rate ranges from $16.00 to $28.85, depending on experience, education, and other factors. Benefits include a comprehensive package, incentive programs, stock purchase options, and 401(k) contributions.
