Job summary

Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas seeks a Lab Assistant to support the laboratory with moderate complex testing and basic procedures. The role includes phlebotomy training, stocking supplies, and timely specimen processing to ensure prompt turnaround times.

You will follow standard precautions, record quality controls, and report results to the patient care team. A high school diploma and at least 6 months in a related field are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 6 months of experience in related field.

Responsibilities

• Assist with rotating and stocking of laboratory supplies.
• Process specimens in the send out department.
• Perform procedures using Standard Precautions to minimize exposure risk.
• Record all results of quality controls and patient testing accurately.
• Receive, process and deliver all specimens in a timely fashion.
• Notify patient care associate of results with immediate reporting of critical values.

Summary/Objective

The Lab Assistant is responsible for completing moderate complex testing and carry out basic laboratory procedures. This clinical position must provide support to the laboratory and will receive phlebotomy training and assist when needed. The Lab Assistant must support the mission of providing Sacred Work to all who enter the doors of Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas.

Required Education and Experience
