Job summary

Avera McKennan Hospital is seeking a Laboratory Associate who will organize specimen collection requests and perform patient clinical laboratory specimen collection procedures, transport, processing, and other pre-analytic functions following established standards. The role mainly involves evenings with varied shifts, including weekends/holidays, and a $1,500 sign-on bonus paid over one year.

• Associate degree or 1 year laboratory experience required.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures.
• Good communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Collects blood and other specimens from patients per standard procedures.
• Labels, transports, or stores specimens accurately and timely.
• Process specimens including centrifuging, measuring, storing, and distributing as needed.
• Complete patient registration and test order entry as required by standards.
• Resolve routine specimen and test order issues for on-campus work.
• Perform point-of-care testing as directed and maintain records for regulations.
