Job summary

Blessing Health System is seeking a Lab Assistant to support quality specimen collection and processing across Blessing Health System locations. You will collect blood and other specimens, label correctly, and help deliver accurate test results to ordering providers with courteous patient service.

The role may involve phlebotomy at various Blessing Health System sites; a high school diploma is required and computer experience is a plus, with non-exempt hourly pay and competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Computer experience preferred.
• Previous patient care experience beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Collect and process specimens including blood and urine with accuracy.
• Perform diagnostic testing and report results to ordering providers.
• Deliver exceptional customer service to lab patients.
• Identify patients and ensure correct orders for timely results.

JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for the clinical and clerical responsibilities related to quality specimen collection of various types (blood, urine, etc.) need to perform diagnostic testing and appropriately get results back to ordering providers, all while delivering an exceptional customer service experience for all lab patients. Lab Assistant will ensure specimen is appropriately received and prepared for processing.

Individual is responsible for providing optimal customer service, assisting with any physical challenges related to patient needs, including drawing blood, educating patients on proper specimen collection (for specimens such as urine, stool, etc.), appropriately receiving, labeling, and preparing specimen. Serve as resource to patients to answer any questions about testing needs, or specimen collection

Individual will appropriately identify patient using demographics and ensure appropriate order is obtain from provider, to ensure accuracy and timeliness of test results to ordering provider.

Position may be responsible for performing phlebotomy at a variety of locations within the Blessing Health System

Education/Training/Experience:

REQUIRED:

High school diploma or equivalent
