A Lab Assistant II Phlebotomist performs adult and pediatric Phlebotomy, in addition to daily tasks including centrifuging, aliquoting, and stabilizing patient specimens for transport via courier to the main campus lab or via the pneumatic tube system. Accurately register patients, verify insurance, and verify all patient demographics.

Roles And Responsibilities

• Perform pre‑analytical specimen receipt, processing, identification verification, and specimen storage.
• Operate centrifuge and pneumatic tube systems, office equipment, enter information and test orders into the laboratory computer system. Help minimize butterfly usage throughout the PSCs, maintain professional knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
• Provide training to others.
• Perform phlebotomy on inpatient floors and support the ED phlebotomy staff; may be required to draw outpatients on off‑hours.
• Manage work unit supply ordering and inventory.

Required Skills And Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Vocational phlebotomy (or related) course/program, or 1 year working phlebotomy experience.

• Problem‑solving ability and attention to detail.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize work, manage time wisely and adjust to changes in work volumes.

Physical Requirements

• May require light lifting (up to 10 lbs.) and carrying supplies.
• Repetitive use of hands (e.g., computer keyboard usage), sitting, walking, or standing for long periods of time is often necessary.

Location and Travel Requirements

• Onsite at 101 Dates Dr, Ithaca, NY 14850.
• Shift: Full‑time – Nights, rotating weekends and holidays.
• 0‑5% travel can be expected in this role.

Pay Range Disclosure

• Standard rate of $19.79 to $26.04 per hour plus benefits.
