Job summary

Abrazo Arrowhead Campus Hospital is seeking a Phlebotomy Technician to perform venipuncture, specimen handling, and CLIA waived tests in a fast-paced lab setting.

The role includes specimen registration, distribution, and assistive microbiology tasks, with emphasis on accuracy, safety, and teamwork within a high-volume environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; Phlebotomy training or certification as required by state law.
• Completion of a formal phlebotomy training program or equivalent experience.
• Experience in a clinical laboratory setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and specimen collection.
• Register specimens and assist with billing.
• Receive, process, and distribute laboratory specimens.
• Perform CLIA waived tests as requested.
• Assist microbiology processing and plating as needed.
• Maintain specimen integrity and proper packaging for transport.

Position Summary

Performs routine technical and clerical functions. Performs venipuncture, specimen receipt and distribution of laboratory specimens; will perform CLIA waived laboratory tests, as requested.

• Performs routine technical and clerical functions to include specimen registration and billing.
• Performs specimen receipt and distribution of laboratory specimens.
• Performs phlebotomy duties as assigned.
• Will perform CLIA waived laboratory tests, as requested.
• Will assist in microbiology processing and plating specimens, as requested.
• Other related job tasks or responsibilities as assigned

  • Demonstrates problem solving by taking the appropriate actions regarding questionable findings or concerns.
  • Capable of handling multiple priorities in a high volume setting.
• Minimum Requirements:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience: 1 year of laboratory experience and/or completion of a formal phlebotomy training program.
  • Certification/Registration: Phlebotomy certification where State law requires
• Preferred Requirements:
  • Education: Associate degree in the laboratory or medical-related field from an accredited institution
  • Experience: Basic laboratory computer/lab information system experience.
  • Certification/Registration: Completion of formal phlebotomy training program and/or national phlebotomy certification through ASCP, ANP, ASPT or similar
