About the role:

Maintain research animal health and assist with laboratory needs.

Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Follow all safety and security policies, maintain knowledge of regulations, and comply with SOPs and internal requirements.
  2. Ensure adherence to regulations, procedures, and data collection protocols during studies, notifying managers or study directors as needed.
  3. Accurately record and back up all necessary data, including animal treatment records, data forms, and drug logs.
  4. Maintain cleanliness of lab areas, assist with kennel and animal care, and communicate health issues to veterinary staff and study directors.
  5. Properly clean, sterilize, and prepare laboratory instruments for use.
  6. Keep procedure and preparation rooms organized and stocked with supplies.
  7. Assist with inventory management by verifying and restocking supplies.
  8. Process clinical pathology samples and prepare them for shipping.
  9. Regularly check animal data for accuracy and completeness.
  10. Assist with the arrival and acclimatization of new animals.
  11. Conduct monthly weight checks and record data accurately.
  12. Provide enrichment activities to support animal well-being.
  13. Perform light cleaning duties in kennels to ensure a safe environment.
  14. Support administrative tasks like scanning documents and assisting Study Directors.
  15. Stay updated on equipment, veterinary techniques, and products through journals and training.
  16. Assist with necropsies and pathology assessments under veterinary supervision, properly documenting specimens and coordinating with labs.

Required qualifications:

  • Associate degree or equivalent experience.

Salary Range: $34,944 - $59,384

The listed compensation and benefits vary based on location and other factors. Compensation will align with experience, education, and organizational needs. It is uncommon for hires to be at the salary range extremes.

For non-exempt roles, variable pay such as overtime and shift differentials, plus bonuses, may apply. Exempt roles may include annual bonuses and incentives.
