The University of North Dakota's Center for Biomedical Research is seeking a part-time, non-benefited Lab Support Assistant to keep a well-organized lab space and support faculty with animal care tasks. Work around your class schedule and on-campus hours.

This role requires lifting up to 40 pounds, reliable attendance, and good communication skills. The position is in Grand Forks and excludes visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, sanitize labs.
• Trash removal.
• Wash windows.
• Change filters.
• Safely operate cleaning equipment.
• Report damage and maintenance needs.
• Assist with preparing animal cages.
• Refill food buckets and water bottles.
• Prepare cages with bedding.
• Assist with regular inventory control.

Salary/Position Classification

• $17.00 hourly, Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime)
• 5-15 hours per week during the semester and up to 40 hours per week during breaks and summer
• 100% Remote Work Availability: No
• Hybrid Work Availability (requires some time on campus): No

Purpose of Position

This is a part-time, non-benefited position. Only UND students are eligible to be hired in this position. This position is to assist the Center for Biomedical Research (CBR) in maintaining a well-organized and functional lab space. CBR has many labs for faculty and their staff to conduct research utilizing mice and rats. This position will save valuable time for CBR staff and faculty as well as expose the student to current studies in progress. We work around your class schedule.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Preparation and sanitation of equipment to include cages and cage racks
• Assist in cleaning facility areas
• Maintain cleanliness of the halls, corridors, break room, and meeting rooms
• Sweep/mop/sanitize procedure and labs
• Trash removal
• Wash windows
• Wipe shelving
• Change filters
• Safely operate cleaning equipment
• Report damage and needed maintenance repair items
• Assist with preparing animal cages
• Filling food buckets
• Filling water bottles
• Prepare cages with bedding
• Assist with regular inventory control.
