Job summary

DNA Diagnostics Center, headquartered in Fairfield, OH, seeks a Lab Assistant to ensure accurate intake, processing, and management of DNA testing cases. You will handle sample intake, data entry, case tracking, and reporting while maintaining chain-of-custody compliance and client expectations.

Typical schedule is M-F 9:00am-5:30pm with full-time benefits including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, 401(k) with company match, and paid vacation/holidays.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of data entry experience preferred.
• Ability to prioritize workload and meet production goals in a high-volume lab.
• Proficient typing and computer literacy required.
• Strong problem-solving and confidentiality skills.

Responsibilities

• Process and verify incoming sample packages with chain-of-custody.
• Input and audit patient and contract information into LIS.
• Manage case assignments and track progress to closure.
• Identify complete and partial cases per procedures.
• Prepare and send final reports and related documents timely.
• Collaborate with Laboratory Operations and Customer Service.
• Attend team meetings and training sessions to stay updated on policies.
• Support DNA kit assembly and shipping as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Description

Lab Assistants ensures the accurate intake, processing, and management of DNA testing cases, maintaining compliance with chain-of-custody requirements and client expectations. Lab Assistants are responsible for opening samples, comparing information, addressing concerns, solving problems, and entering client data correctly into the Laboratory Information System to ensure that every case is successfully completed. Lab Assistants must have excellent data entry skills, be detail oriented, and organized.This position plays a vital role in ensuring timely process of samples, from receipt to final reporting.

• Process and verify incoming sample packages, ensuring chain of custody and package integrity
• Accurately input and audit patient and contract information into the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
• Manage case assignments, track progress, and determine case resolution and closure.
• Identifies complete and partial cases, following established procedures for processing.
• Prepare and send final reports, chain-of-custody documents, and affidavits in a timely manner.
• Coordinating and providing service that is timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and client-centered
• Meet or exceed productivity targets, ensuring timely case processing and resolution.
• Prepare Affidavits
• Notarize case documents as required (limited).
• Collaborate with internal departments, including Laboratory Operations and Customer Service, to facilitate case resolution.
• Attend team meetings and training sessions to stay updated on policies and procedures.
• Flex to support DNA kit assembly and shipping duties, as needed
• Other duties as assigned or become evident.

Qualifications

• One (1) to two (2) years previous data entry experience preferred
• Ability to prioritize workload and meet production goals in a high-volume environment.
• Computer literacy in Microsoft Office and typing skills are required
• Strong ability to multi-task while maintaining accuracy and compliance.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to escal(e?) issues effectively.
• Knowledge of record-keeping and chain-of-custody protocols is a plus.
• Self-motivated and the ability to work with minimal supervision; must also be able to work as part of a team.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and remain flexible to changing priorities
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive client information.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Communicating with others to exchange information.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
• Manual dexterity to handle, label, and file samples and paperwork.
• Standing, walking, stooping, and kneeling to accomplish tasks and transport samples from accessioning area to Laboratory.
