Departmental Overview
The Angelo Coast Range Reserve is an 8,051-acre natural history reserve in Northern Mendocino County, 3 hours north of the Bay Area and a 30-minute drive from Laytonville. A site within the UC Natural Reserve System (UCNRS) managed by UC Berkeley, Angelo serves the mission of the UCNRS—to contribute to the understanding and wise stewardship of the Earth and its natural systems by supporting university-level teaching, research, and public service. The Reserve features rugged topography and vegetation that ranges from riparian alders to old growth Douglas fir, coast redwoods, and mixed hardwood-conifer forest, extending to chaparral at higher elevations.
Position Summary
This position assists with field sampling, lab work, and data entry for the Eel River Critical Zone Observatory. Duties include travel to the Angelo Coast Range Reserve, regular sampling of the Vadose Zone Monitoring System (VMS), preparing sampling supplies, collecting samples, sorting, and distributing samples to laboratories for isotopic analysis. Results will be tabulated and reported to the supervisor and stored on the appropriate Google drive.

Salary range: $25.90/hour (Step 5). Offers are based on experience and qualifications.
