- Completes required emergency planning drills.

- Participates in interdepartmental process improvements and process evaluation.
- Attend monthly staff meetings.
- Serve as a liaison between the clinic and hospital labs and as a reference for nursing staff.
- Keepssupplies stocked and orderedas needed.
- Ensuresaccuratepatient demographics and tests are entered incomputerdata base.
- Providesnecessary instructions to customers for specimen collection.
- Answerstelephoneandassistscalleras needed.
- Proficientin phlebotomy skills for all ages usingappropriate collectiondevices.
- Preparesspecimens to ship to reference labs.
- Performsvenipunctures and collectsblood cultures.
- Collectsthroat, nares,and nasopharyngeal samples.
- Startstestsand obtainsspecimens for glucose tolerance tests.
- Performsdrug and breath alcohol screens.
- Performspaternity collections.
- Proficientin performing CLIA waived testing.
- Proficient in performing quality control for CLIA waived testing.
- Pack,unpack, andreceive blood products.
- Respondsto Code Blue and Traumas.
- Exhibits properuse of two patient identifiers.
- Appliesguidelines for age appropriate and patient mental status.
- Performsquality control onGlucometereach day of use.
- Disposesof and changessharpscontainers.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Completes all required annual education, training, in‑services, and licensure/certification updates; activelyparticipatesin departmental and organizational meetings or reviews meeting minutes asrequired.
- Maintains strict patient confidentiality at all times.
- Reports to work punctually andcompletesassigned duties within establishedtimeframes.
- Actively contributes to departmental and organization‑wide performance improvement and continuous quality initiatives.
- Ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements,maintainingadherence to departmental, hospital, state, and federal standards and policies.
- Follows all infection control, safety, and risk management procedures tomaintaina safe environment for patients, the public, and staff.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age (21 for positions requiring driving, with a valid driver’s license).
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Must successfully pass a background check.
- Must successfully pass a pre‑employment drug screen and breath alcohol test (if applicable).
- Must complete an Employee Health meeting prior to starting employment.
Education, Licensure(s), and Certification(s)
Required
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or be obtained within ninety (90) days of hire).
Preferred
Experience
Required
One (1) year of phlebotomy experience.
Preferred
Working knowledge of medical terminology.
