Job Description: Laboratory Assistant

The laboratory assistant is responsible for the collection of various sample types. Performing phlebotomy is the primary mode of collection. Staff also provide collection instructions to patients for urinalysis, stool, and other sample types. Additionally, staff assist with cardiac procedures, including but not limited to EKGs, Holter, and Event Monitor placement. At the core of their duties, laboratory assistants must exhibit a high level of trust in their abilities to put the patient at ease and provide a safe, warm, and pleasant experience for our patients.

Work Schedule

32 hours weekly / 0.8 FTE. The schedule includes 8-hour days, occasional weekends, rotating holidays, with times varying between 7 AM and noon.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

• 2-3 years of experience performing phlebotomy
• Experience with pediatric and oncology patients
• Experience with Laboratory Information Systems
• Excellent customer service skills
• Licensure or certification from an accredited phlebotomy program
