Job summary

White Plains Hospital Medical Center is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Assistant to support non-technical laboratory tasks and overall workflow in the Anatomic Pathology Laboratory. This role requires handling specimens, coordinating with technical staff, and ensuring accurate logging and packaging of tests.

The position supports a day shift (7 AM–3 PM) with a pay rate ranging from $20.00 to $30.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Previous laboratory or healthcare environment experience preferred.
• Flexibility in duties and schedules is expected.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential.

• Demonstrated stress tolerance in a fast-paced lab environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with non-technical laboratory tasks to support workflow.
• Monitor pending lists and assist with add-on testing.
• Manage specimens for delivery to technical staff for testing.
• Process send-out tests and create packing lists for referral labs.
• Monitor inventory levels and storage par levels as required.
• Answer phones and route calls as needed.
• Remove and discard specimens as appropriate.
• Investigate location and status of specimens in the LIS.
• Place specimens in centrifuge and on automated track systems.
• Record temperature, humidity, and maintenance logs as required.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
