Job summary

Inform Diagnostics is seeking a Lab Aide I to support the Histology department in a fast-paced laboratory environment. The role involves loading stainers, preparing slides, and ensuring accurate labeling and record-keeping to maintain patient specimen integrity.

The position requires high school completion with preferred biology-related degree, basic lab skills, and the ability to handle physical tasks and overtime when needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences strongly preferred.
• Prior lab experience is preferred.
• Manual dexterity to use common laboratory equipment and perform sterile techniques.
• Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
• May have exposure to extreme temperatures, high noise levels, fumes, and bio-hazardous materials.

Responsibilities

• Handles, prepares, and loads/unloads stainers; prepares dehydrating and coverslip slides.
• Prepares, cleans, sterilizes, maintains, and shuts down laboratory equipment, accessories, and instruments.
• Records in Laboratory logbooks all slides and stains prepared. Logs information into the Laboratory Information system.
• Routinely checks and verifies that surgical case numbers match blocks and slides; prints labels as appropriate.
• Filing, tracking, retrieval, and accurate record keeping.

This position works under the direction of the supervisor and follows standard Laboratory procedures and policies.Key Job ElementsHandles, prepares, and loads/unloads stainers; conducts dehydrating and coverslip slides utilizing manual or automatic systems.Prepares, cleans, sterilizes, maintains, and shuts down Laboratory equipment, accessories, and instruments.Responsible for filing, tracking, retrieval, and accurate record keeping.Maintains diagnostic viability of all specimens and ensures correct patient labeling of all materials.Routinely checks and verifies that surgical case numbers match blocks and slides; prints Labels as appropriate.Records in Laboratory logbooks all slides and stains prepared.
