Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle seeks a part-time Laboratory Assistant to perform routine work in a clinical or research laboratory under the close supervision of the Lab Manager or other lab personnel.

Responsibilities include preparing media and reagents, cleaning glassware, maintaining a tidy lab, assisting with experiments, and performing basic tests. The role offers an hourly wage range and opportunities to learn in a leading cancer research environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent with an interest in the sciences.
• Some lab experience and/or college level chemistry courses.
• Currently enrolled in college and available for at least 9 hours per week.
• Accuracy and attention to details.

• Prepare media and reagents, such as stock solutions.
• Rinse and prepare glassware for cleaning. Deliver glassware to storage areas.
• Maintain clean and orderly laboratory area.
• Clean and maintain lab equipment.
• May check and replenish supplies.
• May assist with experiments and set-up.
• Perform simple, routine and repetitive laboratory tests and procedures as directed.
• Perform clerical duties as required.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Perform routine work in a clinical or research laboratory. The incumbent works under the close supervision of the Lab Manager or other lab personnel.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School diploma or equivalent with an interest in the sciences.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Some lab experience and/or college level chemistry courses.
• Interested in learning research.
• Ideal candidate will be available for at least 9 hours per week.
• Ideal candidate will be currently enrolled in college.
• Accuracy and attention to details.

The hourly pay range for this position is from $21.30 to $30.13 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.

Although Fred Hutch is not sponsoring most H-1B visas at this time, candidates who already hold an H-1B sponsored by another organization and are currently in the U.S. may be eligible for this position.
