Job summary

Derick Dermatology in Elgin, IL is seeking a detail-oriented candidate for a role with paid training in our medical laboratory team. You will perform essential record keeping, prepare slides, label cassettes, and support the pathologist and lab staff in a fast-paced environment.

The position offers regular hours Monday through Friday with some variability; a high school diploma or GED is required, and familiarity with laboratory equipment is a plus.

Qualifications

• Interest in a medical laboratory setting.

Responsibilities

• Record keeping (QC, Temps, Chemical usage & disposal).
• Filing slides and blocks.
• Label cassettes and slides.
• Perform block checks and organizing slide books.
• Dispose of specimen containers.
• Empty chemical waste into large bins.
• Change/rotate chemicals on processor and H&E stainer.
• Maintain adequate inventory for department needs.
• Manage the Tasks in the task box.
• Aide Pathologist or Lab team as needed.
