Job summary

Saint Francis Hospital & Medical Center in Hartford, CT seeks a full-time Laboratory Assistant to handle specimen reception, prioritization and delivery to testing lines in a fast-paced lab. You will obtain and process specimens, ensure proper accessioning in the system, and verify patient/test information with accuracy.

Requirements include a high school diploma and laboratory experience or clinical office experience with medical terminology.

• High School Diploma required.
• Laboratory experience or clinical office experience with medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Obtains and/or processes specimens utilizing appropriate techniques for maintaining the integrity and identification of the patient and/or specimen.
• Verifies that the appropriate specimen has been received for the test requested and performs the appropriate accessioning in the computer system
• Confirms all patients records using departmental guidelines and corrects as necessary.
